The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged its members to remain calm despite the pain of the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Koduah Frimpong and dated March 20, the party acknowledged that the election loss has caused disappointment and emotional distress among members.
“We humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time,” the party appealed.
The statement further appealed to the opposition party’s members to refrain from media discussions that could harm the party’s unity.
“Please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read in part.
It further reminded members of Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates them to promote and defend the good name of the NPP.
Going forward, Frimpong Koduah stated that the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership will refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees.
This directive comes amid recent explosive media outbursts by former Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, who has blamed the party for losing the constituency’s seat and alleged corruption in the School Feeding Programme under former President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
