4 arrested over killing of MoMo vendor at Aflao

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four persons in connection with the killing of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor at Aflao in the Volta Region.

In a statement released by the Volta Regional Police Command on May 12, 2025, the police indicated that the arrests followed a joint intelligence-led operation conducted on May 10, 2025.

The operation involved the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPD), the Police SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and XCTION NOW, a local neigbourhood watch group.

“On May 10, 2025, between 1:00 and 00:00 hours, the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department, in collaboration with partner units, arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the robbery and killing of a mobile money vendor in Aliba on April 18, 2025,” the statement noted.

The suspects, Michael Scworm, 34; Kortu Aghoubi, 43; Azua Aplaqib, 56; and Usulub Ouyeto, 22; a Nigerian national are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 28, 2025, at around 6:15 PM., when about five armed men opened fire on Christopher Ahordo, a Mobile Money vendor, at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement factory.
