A new poll by research firm Global InfoAnalytics shows that majority of Ghanaians back the controversial GH¢1-per-litre fuel charge, popularly known as the dumsor levy.
According to the firm, 55% of Ghanaians across the political divide support the levy, while 22% oppose it and 23% remain neutral.
“The poll also shows that 55% of voters support the suspended ‘Dumsor’ Levy while 22% opposed it, [and] 23% were neutral,” part of the report released on Tuesday, July 1, stated.
The survey sampled 10,493 Ghanaians across 84 constituencies using online, telephone and face-to-face interviews.
It was conducted between May 10 and June 27, with a confidence level of 99%.
The poll also revealed that 59% of Ghanaians believe their standard of living has improved over the past year.
Twelve percent said it had worsened, 25% noted no change, and 11% had no opinion.
“Fifty-nine percent of voters say their standard of living has improved compared to this time last year,” the report said.
On the president’s performance, respondents gave the highest score of 7.0 out of 10 for stabilising the cedi.
The economy and oral governance followed with 6.6 each. Stabilising prices of goods and services scored 6.5, electricity and water prices 6.0, galamsey 6.0, dumsor 5.8, and job creation 5.6.
