Students in the Ho West Assembly showcasing their maths sets donated by Nuse Foundation
In a major boost to education equity and academic readiness, the Nusé Foundation has donated over 1,500 mathematical sets to final-year students in 75 public and private junior high schools across the Kpedze area of the Ho West Assembly.
The initiative, which concluded on June 8, 2025, comes just days before candidates sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The week-long distribution, which began on June 2, aims to equip students with essential learning tools such as compasses, protractors, and rulers that are often beyond the reach of many families in underserved communities.
“This is just our way of giving back to the community that raised us. We are children of this district. We come from Ho West, and this initiative is about those of us who are now in a better position supporting the next generation,” said Eli Kojo Agbotse, Founder of the Nusé Foundation.
Bridging educational gaps
Mathematical sets are vital for success in core BECE subjects like Mathematics and Integrated Science, particularly in areas like geometry and technical drawing.
For many students, this donation represents more than just exam preparation; it’s a symbol of support and belief in their potential.
“The major challenge is financial. Most of the funds come from a few dedicated members of the foundation. ‘Nusé’ means strength, and that’s exactly what we’re giving these students: the strength to succeed,” Agbotse added.
This year’s distribution marks the foundation’s largest outreach to date, touching the lives of over 1,500 students in both public and private schools. The Nusé Foundation, known for its grassroots approach, also runs health screenings, nutrition programs, and economic empowerment initiatives across Ho West and beyond.
Students and community respond
The impact is already being felt among students and educators. Valeria Bassie Sefekor Yawa, a final-year student at Kpedze Awlime B JHS, shared, “This math set will really help us, especially with difficult parts of the exam like constructions.”
Another student, Hakim Fuseini, added, “With this, solving math questions will be easier. We’re hopeful and ready to do our best.”
Local authorities echoed the importance of the gesture. Adam Kasim Osman, Assembly Member for Kpedze Awlime, praised the foundation’s continued investment in local education.
“This is a rare and commendable initiative. I urge the students to work hard, pass well, and make the community proud,” he noted.
Investing in the future
Founded with a vision to transform lives through access and opportunity, the Nusé Foundation is grounded in its commitment to breaking cycles of poverty through education, healthcare, and empowerment.
“We’ve taken some of the burden off their shoulders. Now they can walk into the exam room with confidence. We wish them nothing but success—they’ve got this,” said Agbotse.
As Ho West prepares its youth for one of the most important academic milestones of their lives, this donation stands as a powerful reminder: quality education begins with access and flourishes through community support.
