Let’s support Mahama to reset Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama President John Dramani Mahama

As a country, a new dawn befalls on us, the sunshine of hope will break through the clouds of poverty, hopelessness, joblessness and destitution.

But only if we support and cooperate with the new government of President John Dramani Mahama.

So far so good, day by day, week by week, step by step, President Mahama is delivering on the promises he made to Ghanaians, there is an atmosphere of optimism and hope among Ghanaians.

There is a renewed sense of direction for the country. President Mahama has an avalanche of experience as a politician because he has had the privilege to hold several positions on the political ladder.

President John Mahama will be a man of his own as a result of his experience. I t is therefore important for all Ghanaians to put aside our political differences and support the newly formed government in the interest of the country.

The vast experience of President John Mahama acquired both in and out of office as President and a former President would enhance the socio-economic development of this country if we give him and his appointees the needed support and cooperation.

President Mahama might have made some mistakes during his first tenure , but it is obvious that he will reflect on those and this will ultimately make his second term far much better than the first term. For sure, this president will learn from his own mistakes and the errors of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.

Prior to the just ended elections, the then NDC flag bearer rightly stress, “I have been president before, and I had the experience.

There is no school where you go and pay school fees, enrol, and say, I want to learn how to be president. You have to learn on the job.

Luckily for me, I got the experience of working with a very good, honest, and one of the best presidents we have had in Ghana, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

As president, we did some things well; we built a lot of infrastructure. We provided health facilities in many districts and regions. We provided educational facilities,”.

It is refreshing to hear the former president acknowledge some of his shortfalls during his presidency, and state that, given the opportunity, he would have approached certain issues differently.

President Mahama added that, “Not everybody gets that opportunity that you become president; you go out of office and you get the opportunity to come back again, and so I know that in the four years coming, I will be a much better president than even when I was president.

This is an honest and candid expression of reflection, and it is pregnant with humility and candour.

Fellow countrymen, John Mahama is absolutely right in making these pronouncements, because of the experiences he has acquired as a president between 2012 and 2016 , he also has an opportunity to reflect on his period of time as a president.

The second term given to President Mahama is a legacy term, I believe he will work assiduously in the interest of this country and the generations yet unborn. History beckons us, it is in this regard that I believe all and sundry irrespective of our political colours should support and cooperate with the current government.

The economic mess created by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government is more than what was originally thought, therefore, it is important to rally behind the Mahama administration to address the numerous challenges and reset the country to the Ghana we all want.
