Former President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended warm Ramadan Kareem wishes to the Muslim community in Ghana, Africa, and across the world as they begin the sacred month of fasting and prayer.
In a heartfelt message, Akufo-Addo expressed his hope that Ramadan will strengthen both individual and collective resolve in the pursuit of peace and good neighborliness.
“I convey greetings and best wishes to the Muslim Ummah here in Ghana, across the continent, and the world upon the commencement of this sacred month of fasting and prayer,” he stated.
The former President emphasized the importance of unity, spirituality, and reflection during the holy month, encouraging Muslims to use the period to deepen their faith and commitment to peace.
Nana Akufo-Addo’s message highlights his continued engagement with national and religious affairs, reinforcing the values of harmony and togetherness among Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to airlift 5,000 Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca for Hajj this year.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Hajj village on Friday, February 28, President Mahama underscored the need for timely payments and thorough preparation to ensure a smooth process.
“This year, we intend to airlift exactly 5,000 pilgrims to the holy land, and the task force has announced March 13 as the deadline for payment,” Mahama stated.
To facilitate the pilgrimage, the government has secured a pre-finance arrangement with a local bank, ensuring that all deposits for accommodation, transport, and other logistics have been paid in advance.
