Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has revealed that the immediate past Nana Akufo-Addo-led NPP government failed to deliver value for money on the Agenda 111 projects.
According to the Minister, although about three of the projects saw some level of completion, none of the hospitals under the initiative was fit to serve the public, despite a reported expenditure of $400 million.
He made this known in a social media post after visiting some of the project sites in the Ashanti Region on Monday, March 3.
“$400 million spent on Agenda 111. Not a single one was completed. Not even one. The previous government did not complete a single Agenda 111 project.
“The former president commissioned unfinished projects despite spending $400 million on Agenda 111,” he wrote.
The minister further noted that the uncompleted ward at Kokoben in the Oforikrom Municipality, which was commissioned by former President Akufo-Addo, lacks beds and remains unfinished.
“The Trede hospital remains incomplete and lacks essential equipment to function as a proper healthcare facility.
“It’s notable that former president Akufo-Addo hastily commissioned the hospital despite these shortcomings,” he added.
This comes after President John Dramani Mahama directed the minister to develop a comprehensive plan to complete the projects, adding that the government may consider partnering with religious bodies to see the projects through.
