Renowned journalist and legendary morning show host at Pure FM, Kwame Adinkra, has urged aspiring journalists to seize every opportunity that comes their way and avoid making excuses that could hinder their growth and success in the competitive media industry.
Speaking to students of the OTEC School of Journalism and Communication Studies on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, during the 2025/2026 SRC Week celebration at the school’s premises in Kumasi, Mr. Adinkra emphasized that success in journalism depends largely on taking advantage of opportunities without hesitation.
“Seize opportunities, avoid excuses as it is one of the ways to work your way up in the media fraternity,” he said.
He further stressed that excuses have no place in journalism, advising students to embrace every opportunity wholeheartedly and put in their best effort.
“Excuses have no place in the field of journalism. Whenever you are given an opportunity, embrace it wholeheartedly and put in your best effort,” he added.
According to him, avoiding excuses is crucial for both personal growth and professional success.
Mistakes in Journalism
Mr. Adinkra also reassured students that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. Instead of fearing failure, he encouraged them to learn from their errors and continuously improve. “Mistakes are bound to happen, but they should not hold you back,” he said.
