The International Youth Network for UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (IYNUNSCR2250) and members of the Youth Government System residing in Ho, Volta Region, have paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.
The visit was to congratulate Hon. James Gunu on his assumption of office and to acknowledge the efforts of H.E. Rev. Dr. Lilian Sally Addo, the Global President of IYNUNSCR2250, in creating leadership and capacity-building opportunities for young people.
Leading the delegation was the Speaker of Parliament of the Youth Government System of IYNUNSCR2250, Rt. Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo, along with Cyril Kekeli Amevor, Youth Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment. The young leaders engaged in a discussion with the Regional Minister on the role of youth in governance and national development. They commended the warm reception they received, emphasizing that it demonstrated the recognition of young people as key stakeholders in leadership.
Hon. James Gunu took the opportunity to share his vision and plans for youth development in the Volta Region. The delegation expressed their commitment to supporting his initiatives and working collaboratively to ensure his plans materialize for the benefit of young people in the region.
Among the delegation was Constantina Etornam Afi Agbenorlawoduga, Executive Director of Constant Care Alliance and the only female leader present. She described the meeting as a powerful statement that young women belong in decision-making spaces. She stressed that their voices, perspectives, and contributions are just as crucial in shaping policies and driving transformation. She further noted that being the only woman among the group of young leaders did not intimidate her, but rather strengthened her resolve to push for greater representation, inclusion, and impact.
Constantina used the opportunity to encourage other young female leaders, stating that this was just the beginning and that the work must continue. She urged young women to keep showing up, take up space, and ensure they are not only included but also empowered to lead. She posed the question, “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”
Other members of the delegation included Mark Bless Dormevenu, Volta Regional Youth Minister, Isaac Etornam Adzei, Youth MP for Adaklu, Adam Usman, Speaker of Parliament of the Youth Impact Parliament (YIP), Bright Selorm Vicson, Majority Leader of UNYA-GH YGI Parliament House, and Felix Senyo Kubuafor, a co-leader of a foundation.
The visit marked an important step in strengthening youth participation in governance and policy discussions. The engagement reinforced the commitment of IYNUNSCR2250 to empowering young leaders and fostering a culture of inclusive leadership in Ghana.
