Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has disclosed that he will be spending the night sleeping among persons displaced by the tidal waves in Ketu South.

Tidal waves in the Ketu South Constituency have displaced several people, especially in Amutinu, Agavedzi, Salakope, and their environs.

The waves are said to have destroyed burial grounds, residences, and other properties.

This has forced some families to exhume the bodies of their loved ones who had been buried.

Reports indicate that about 600 people have been displaced as a result.

He says his decision to sleep at the temporary facility provided to house the displaced persons is to experience their plight firsthand.

In a social media post, he explained, “I’ll be spending the night with the good people of Agavedzi-Salakɔƒe-Amutinu. It is important for us to feel what they feel even as we formulate and implement the permanent solution.”

Meanwhile, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will be in the Volta Region to sympathize with affected persons and provide support.

He is expected to visit Amutinu, Agavedzi, Salakope, and their environs.
