Hon. Alhaji Amidu Chinnia is Sinned Against

A famous political scientist once warned that “the career of a politician is too uncertain to make any firm commitment to him”. Although I find this warning immoral and distasteful, it truly represents the attitude and behavioral pattern of most of the so-called friends and loyalists of men in power. Most are mere fair-weather friends.

My dear boss, Hon. Alhaji Amidu Chinnia, I know with your loss of political power in December 2024, you have lost a large retinue of friends and some loyalists. However, I want to assure you that there are still genuine friends and loyalists who will be by you through the turbulent challenges of life beyond power politics.

Please sir, though some of us suffered the pain of this betrayal from such people but I know you are strong man and such will not worry you at all. When you wake up every morning, still count on me as a steadfast friend and loyalist. I will continue to maintain my status to you as an abiding and unalloyed loyal servant, a Special Assistant, Confidant, Friend, Mentee, Son and brother.

Boss, I wish to advise you to ignore the treacherous actions of the propagandists who smear mud on your reputation. If we ask most of those who clung to the falsehoods, malicious propaganda and dubious misrepresentation, to proof their claims against you, they will tell you “they only heard”. This tells you such characters are worthless and are equally an embarrassment to decent politics.

Before your MPship sir, the Sissala East as a constituency witnessed a systematic denigration of hope and mismanagement of political leadership. But you rebuilt that hope. With you as the MP, the promise of a better tomorrow was realistically very close. You established and was establishing more efficient and effective developmental projects across the length and breadth of the constituency. You had clear thoughts of the enormity of the challenges facing Sissala East Constituency. You were very deep in thought on how to address these challenges. You were fulfilling the legitimate expectations of the Constituents.

Unfortunately, during the course of the elections, the propaganda of the opposition and your internal saboteurs was targeted at your personality rather than politics of ideas, policies and development. The propaganda exhibited by your opponents was infinitely worse. They insulted, attacked and lied on your personality all to win political power.

Despite these bad politics from the opposition and your internal saboteurs, you still chose the path of human conscience. Throughout your political journey, you maintained a campaign which promoted democracy and social justice, encompassed love, peace and togetherness. You did not preach hate and envy. You did not attack back or insult any member of the opposition or your internal saboteurs. Some of these internal saboteurs are still even living on and surviving on the generosity and goodwill you created for them.

Hon. Alhaji Amidu Chinnia, I admire your patience. Your spectacular commitment in the development of our cherished Sissala East was legendary and is missed. In the politics of Sissala East, you are a rare breed. Your name shall always be written in gold whenever the political history of Sissala East is dispassionately studied and analyzed.

I truly appreciate the leadership you provided for our dear Sissala East. Yours was the leadership that accommodated all. It was a leadership that conscientiously worked for the development of all. It was the leadership that gave Sissala East the hope that Sissala East will become a powerful force in the nearest future.

Though you are no longer the MP for Sissala East, you remain the MP in the hearts of the good people of Sissala East Constituency. Your leadership was outstanding, friendly and patient. You were equally outspoken, hardworking, committed to duty, peaceful, gentle, proactive and very nice. You are a great Sissala man and history and posterity will judge you kindly.

Hon Alhaji Amidu Chinnia is the immediate past MP for Sissala East Constituency and Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
