The President of Breast Care International (BCI), Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, has urged women to seek assistance when faced with social challenges, emphasizing that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
She made this call during the celebration of International Women’s Day with clients at the Peace and Love Hospital in Oduom, Ashanti Region, on Friday. Her message resonated deeply, considering the numerous challenges women face daily, including health issues, domestic violence, and economic hardships.
“Women should not suffer in silence. There are people and organizations willing to help, and it is okay to ask for assistance,” she stated.
Speaking under the theme “Accelerate Action,” Dr. Wiafe Addai also called for urgent global action to eliminate injustices against women. She stressed the need for continuous advocacy, stating, “Public policy interventions in furtherance of the good of women should be given the necessary boost, while the campaign against abuses should be consistent and not few and far between.”
She further urged women to challenge economic disparities that disproportionately favor men, saying, “Women everywhere should speak up and out against the unfair global economic order disproportionately skewed to favor the male gender, infringing on women who remain in majority numerically, and in most cases, are saddled with the administration of homes and the upbringing of children, often under cash-strapped circumstances.”
By encouraging women to seek help, Dr. Wiafe Addai is fostering a culture of support and solidarity among women. As a renowned breast cancer advocate, she has dedicated her career to advancing women’s health and well-being. Her leadership and expertise continue to make a significant impact in Ghana and beyond.
International Women’s Day serves as both a celebration of women’s achievements and a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
