Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa, Queen of Kwaafo-Kwawu-Kwahu Kingdom, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III on his enstoolment and inauguration as the new chief of Kwahu Traditional Area. She also prayed for successful reign, more wisdom and a long life for the new chief.
Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III was outdoored at the newly refurbished Abene palace on Saturday, 8th March, 2025, at a colourful ceremony attended by several chiefs, elders, and other dignitaries within and outside of Kwahu.
The 54-year-old chartered civil engineer who was known in private life as Baffour Akoto Osei, was installed as the chief of Kwahu after the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II late last year.
However, Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa of the Kwaafoɔ Aduana Kwahu Kingdom is laying a serious claim of ownership of the entire Kwahu kingdom.
Speaking to a section of the media after the inauguration ceremony, Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa enjoined the new chief not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessor. According to her, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II allegedly failed to recognise, acknowledge or respect the authority of the Kwaafoɔ Royal Stool as the true mother of all stools in the Kwahu Kingdom.
Rather, the destooled chief, she alleged joined forces with other chiefs, including the Chief of Kwahu Bepong, to suppress, harass, intimidate and arrest her and other members of the royal Kwaafoɔ family for no obvious reason – using the police and the local courts.
“I want [my son] Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III to know that Kwahu has an owner. And I, Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa, I am the Kwahuwura. There’s no contestation about that…just that people who know the truth are all pretending not to know because of their greed and selfishness. They have formed a cabal against the Kwaafoɔ royal family. We decided to stay out of sight for some time, and now we are back and back for good”, she noted.
Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa said that she is for peace, unity and development, and not ready for any war. She indicated that she did not come to deprive any chief of their title or take away their lands, but to ensure that Kwahu regains its glory as a great kingdom.
However, she maintained that any chief or any subject within the area who will attempt to undermine or try to fight her authority should be ready for an unending battle with the Kwaafoɔ [Kwahu] royal stool.
“When the stool begins to strike, there’s nobody who can suppress it. Whatever I say comes from the supreme stool and the gods of our land; and any person who will try to oppose my authority will have the stool to deal with.”
According to Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa, she is waiting patiently to meet with all the seven great sons of Anantuo Frimpong, whom the Kwaafoɔ royal family enstooled as caretaker chiefs in their absence.
“I made them chiefs and entrusted the Kwaafoɔ Aduana Kwahu stool to them for safe keeping whiles we were away. Now that I am back, it is only reasonable that they hand the stool back to me and the Kwaafoɔ family in peace.”
Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa enjoined the new chief of Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III to come for wise counsel, direction and empowerment, or face the consequences thereof.
She hinted that she is timebound by the supreme stool and the gods of the land to reveal to the world the wickedness of some key people especially the chiefs who are using dubious means to hide the Kwaafoɔ Aduana Kwahu stool, which is the symbol of authority, peace and development of the Kwahu kingdom for their parochial interest.
Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa lamented that the chiefs in their attempt to protect their personal interest and personal gains have ended up in destroying the Kwahu kingdom – the very reason why Kwahu is not respected or developed like its contemporaries like the Ashantis.
“There are a lot of big secrets about all the chiefs in Kwahu that have been revealed to me by the supreme stool and if the chiefs are not careful and they continue to provoke the stool then the unexpected will happen. And when that happens nobody should blame Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa. Upon my return, I invited the chiefs through the Traditional Council to my ‘Mo Ne Yo’ party, but they refused to honour me. They have also given deaf ears to all the things I said at the party which were broadcast on the various radio and television stations”.
She therefore urged Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III not to give deaf ears to her harmless call. “Daasebre should come because I have something to tell him and it’s for his own good. I am his auntie, and all the chiefs are my own children, so he shouldn’t feel proud to honour my invitation. It will be for his own good to come here because there are things we both need to talk about and there are things I need to show him if he really wants to be the great leader of Kwahu kingdom.”
Meanwhile, it is captured in the pages of the Kwahu State History Book that the Kwaafoɔ kingdom is believed to be the first kingdom in the Kwawu land and remains significant in the oral tradition of the Kwawu people. [Section Two: The General History of Kwahu]. This seems to somewhat support the claim by Ohemaa Akosua Asantewaa that the Kwaafos are the original owners of the Kwahu kingdom.
On the other hand, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, during his inaugural ceremony, unveiled plans to encourage the youth of the area to venture into agriculture. He said he and his cabinet had secured and ploughed about 200 acres of land for that purpose.
The chief thus appealed to the government to support the initiative with tractors and other modern agricultural equipment.
