Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson reflected on his journey in public service, describing it as one shaped by destiny and enriched by invaluable experiences.
With a deep sense of gratitude, he recounted his rise through Ghana’s political ranks, sharing memories of his early years in Parliament. Addressing his fellow lawmakers, Dr. Ato Forson spoke of the nostalgia he felt as he looked back on the path that had brought him to this moment.
“Standing here evokes a deep sense of nostalgia as I reflect on my journey in public service. From my early days as a young parliamentarian in this House in 2009, destiny has guided my path—from a backbencher to a member of the Finance Committee, then to Deputy Minister for Finance, Ranking Member on the Finance Committee, Minority Leader, briefly Majority Leader, and now Minister for Finance,” he stated during the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement in Parliament.
He emphasized how his time in Parliament had shaped his perspective, sharpening his focus and strengthening his resolve to steer Ghana’s economic recovery. Every role he had taken on, he noted, had prepared him for the crucial responsibility of managing the nation’s financial affairs.
“The invaluable experience I gained in this chamber has shaped my perspective, sharpened my focus, and prepared me for the task at hand. I am fully committed to supporting the President in restoring Ghana’s economy,” he added.
His words underscored the importance of experience in governance and reaffirmed his commitment to economic stability and national development. With years of service as his foundation, Dr. Ato Forson pledged to apply his expertise to policies aimed at revitalizing Ghana’s economy and improving the lives of its people.
