Women’s Development Bank is promise kept in 2025 budget – Suhuyini

Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Suhuyini, has praised the 2025 Budget, describing it as clear evidence of the Mahama-led government’s dedication to fulfilling its campaign promises, especially in advancing women’s economic empowerment.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day, Suhuyini pointed to the allocation of funds for the Women’s Development Bank as a prime example of the government’s commitment to its pledges.

“For example, when we promised that we were going to create the Women’s Development Bank, some thought that it was just politically palatable, and some thought that when we come, we will shift it. It was captured in the budget and some funds allocated for it,” he stated.

He stressed that the initiative marks a crucial step toward closing gender gaps in financial access, ensuring that women-led businesses receive the necessary support to thrive.

Beyond the Women’s Development Bank, Suhuyini argued that the 2025 Budget is designed to restore public trust in governance, pushing back against the widespread perception that political promises are made merely to secure votes without any real intention to deliver.

“This budget sought to erase the notion that is fast gaining ground in relation to what many of our young people think about politicians—that we will say the sweet and palatable things to win campaigns without really meaning those things,” he asserted.

He further explained that by prioritizing initiatives like the Women’s Development Bank and ensuring they are reflected in the national budget, the government is proving that it values the trust placed in it by Ghanaians.
