The much-anticipated court hearing between independent candidate Kwadjo Asante, popularly known as Oboafo, and Suhum Member of Parliament Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, took place today, Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Koforidua High Court.
Kwadjo Asante had filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to prevent Frank Asiedu Bekoe from being sworn in and assuming office as the MP for Suhum.
However, during the proceedings, Asante withdrew the lawsuit after Bekoe’s lawyer argued that the injunction was now moot.
The lawyer explained that Bekoe had already been sworn in as the duly elected MP and that the Electoral Commission (EC) had officially gazetted the results of the 2024 parliamentary election for Suhum.
Given these developments, the lawyer contended that granting an injunction would serve no practical purpose.
The presiding judge accepted this argument and struck out the injunction application. As a result, Frank Asiedu Bekoe will continue serving as the MP for Suhum while the substantive case is being addressed.
Bekoe was present in court, accompanied by the Suhum NPP Constituency Executives, led by Chairman Frederick Ofosu. His legal team, headed by Garry Nimako, represented him during the hearing.
The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing set for Monday, March 31, 2025.
