A tragic road accident at Gomoa Assin on the Winneba-Mankessim highway in the Central Region has left one person feared dead and four others in critical condition following a head-on collision between two vehicles.

The accident involved a Toyota Land Cruiser (registration number GR 2444-25) and a Toyota Sienna (registration number AS 5863-19).

According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the crash was severe, leaving the vehicles badly damaged and trapping some occupants inside.

Emergency services, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Police Service, responded swiftly to the scene.

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby health facility for urgent medical attention.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but preliminary reports suggest speeding or wrongful overtaking could have played a role. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances leading to the crash.

The Winneba-Mankessim highway is notorious for accidents, with road safety experts continually urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations.
