Hearts of Oak coach charged for allegedly dodging post-match conference

Hearts of Oak’s coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for avoiding his post-match conference following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Dreams FC on Saturday.

The Phobians were unable to recover from an early Abdul Razak goal, ultimately succumbing to their first league defeat in seven games.

The defeat marked Hearts of Oak’s first league loss in 2025 after previously holding out an impressive record of five wins and two draws.

The defeat was also Hearts of Oak’s first in the Ghana Premier League since losing to sworn rivals Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash in December 2024.

In light of Hearts’ loss, the Ghana Football Association has charged head coach Aboubakar Ouattara for failing to comply with the mandatory post-match protocols.

The coach is said to have allegedly evaded the post-match press conference. His actions were also allegedly described as intentional – an act the GFA abhors, stating it brings the name of the game into disrepute.

Aboubakar Ouattara has been given until Tuesday, March 18, to respond to the charges.

Meanwhile, Ouattara’s charges come a week after the club was charged with a breach of safety protocol following the resumption of the league.

Hearts of Oak’s defeat to Dreams FC leaves them in third place with 36 points, two behind league leaders Kotoko.
