I’m ready for the World Cup qualifiers – Razak Simpson

Nations FC defender Razak Simpson has expressed his readiness ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying games.

The Black Stars take on Chad on March 21 in Accra before facing Madagascar three days later in Morocco.

Simpson had his first taste of national team football in November 2024, when he was called up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Although the qualifiers were a forgettable one for Ghana as a whole (after finishing bottom of their qualifying group with three points and no wins), Simpson made the most of his opportunities.

The Nations FC defender featured in Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Angola before playing the final qualifying game against Niger in Accra.

Simpson’s performances across those two games drew lots of admiration, paving way for yet another inclusion into the team.

Simpson’s imperious form has been with both his club, Nations FC, and national team.

Currently three points behind league leaders Asante Kotoko, Nations FC are firmly in the mix for the Ghana Premier League title.

The towering center-back answered his Black Stars call-up with a well-taken free kick against Medeama on Sunday.

Pressed upon his readiness ahead of Ghana’s must-win World Cup qualifiers, he said.

“I’m very, very ready and excited. First of all, I thank God, Otto Addo and his coaching staff for believing in me. I hope I’m going there to do better once again.”

Ghana lie second in Group I with nine points, same as table toppers Comoros.
