Prof Akwasi Afriyie Achampong, CEO of the International Maritime Hospital (IMaH), has stressed the need for a collective effort to invest in the education of upcoming generation.

He underscored the importance of giving back to institutions that help to train people to attain higher academic laurels and professional achievements.

He made this call at the 60 years anniversary celebration of Dompoase Senior High School on March 22, 2025, in Ashanti region.

The anniversary was held under the theme “60 Years of Transforming Lives in a Technological World: The Role of Stakeholders”.

Addressing management, alumini and students at the ceremony, Prof Afriyie Achampong who doubles as Founder and President of Baldwin University College highlighted the school’s profound impact on his life and career.

He attributed his success as a medical doctor to the values instilled during his time there.

Prof Afriyie Achampong called for a unified effort to transform the institution into a leading secondary and technical school that is capable of competing globally.

“Today, as alumni, we gather to reaffirm our support for our beloved school. We recognize that our school has given us so much, and it is our turn to give back.

“It is our collective duty to support this bold and dynamic project to transform the institution to Secondary and Technical to be able to compete globally,” he added.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the current school administration for upholding high educational standards since the institution was established in 1965 as a humble Training College, under the leadership of first Principal, Nicholas K. Asante.

“I am proud to say that the education I received from Dompoase Senior High School has equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and character necessary to succeed in my chosen profession. And I am not alone. Many of my fellow alumni have also gone on to achieve great things in their respective fields,” he said.

He assured that he and the alumini remained committed to helping the school become a beacon of excellence, not just in the community, but in Ashanti region.

“We envision a future where our school is renowned for its academic excellence, innovative programs and exceptional faculty. We see a future where our students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, resources and opportunities that prepare them for success in an ever-changing world,” he said.

Dignitaries from various sectors, such as education, politics, and community leadership, as well as former students, attended the event.
