The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has restated its determination to arrest and prosecute former government officials implicated in corruption-related offenses.

This response comes after the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) urged Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to cease public commentary and instead take legal action if he has sufficient evidence.

In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency and Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Foyo Gbande, assured Ghanaians that the Mahama-led government remains committed to upholding accountability and ensuring justice is served.

“Within the framework of the law, individuals involved in corruption must be arrested, properly investigated, and prosecuted.

“Ghanaians have demanded accountability, and it is the duty of the government to ensure that those suspected of wrongdoing face justice,” he stated.

Gbande also defended the Attorney-General’s decision to publicly address corruption cases, asserting that transparency does not compromise due process.

“Some opposition figures refuse to take responsibility and do not understand their roles. Just because Akufo-Addo is no longer President, they feel the need to make noise about everything. But let me be clear: if Richard Ahiagbah or anyone else is found culpable of criminal activities in the future, no amount of press conferences will shield them from lawful investigations,” he emphasized.
