The AfCFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AfYEF) has been officially recognized as a Presidium Member of the Silk Road Economic Alliance, marking a significant step in its mission to advance youth entrepreneurship across Africa.
This recognition strengthens AfYEF’s position within a global network that promotes economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and collaboration among transnational organizations, chambers of commerce, and sectoral federations. The partnership aligns with the Silk Road Association Alliance’s goal of fostering cross-regional development through trade and innovation.
AfYEF President, Prince Hissan Siita Sofo, revealed that the agreement was finalized after a year of extensive discussions and negotiations. As a Presidium Member, AfYEF will actively contribute to policy development, forge strategic alliances, and create opportunities for youth and women-led enterprises within the AfCFTA framework and beyond.
Prince Hissan highlighted the Silk Road Economic Alliance’s role as a core component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which connects Asia, Europe, and Africa through infrastructure development, trade, and investment. The initiative spans six major corridors, including the New Eurasian Land Bridge, China-Mongolia-Russia Corridor, and the Maritime Silk Road.
“This partnership will strengthen Africa’s position in the global marketplace, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance AfYEF’s capacity to empower the next generation of leaders. It underscores the power of global collaboration in driving sustainable economic growth and development,” he stated.
AfYEF expressed excitement about the new opportunities this recognition brings, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on Africa’s youth and women-led enterprises. The endorsement from the Silk Road Economic Alliance General Secretariat further solidifies AfYEF’s role in empowering young business leaders and promoting Africa’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Since its establishment in late 2020, AfYEF has transformed from a collective of young entrepreneurs into a structured federation dedicated to mobilizing young business leaders for the AfCFTA agenda. This milestone reaffirms its commitment to economic growth, innovation, and international collaboration.
In an official statement, AfYEF extended its gratitude to the Silk Road Economic Alliance General Secretariat, stating: “Together, we are building the Africa we want: united, prosperous, and driven by innovation, with a strong focus on youth and women entrepreneurship.”
The Silk Road Association Alliance remains committed to trans-regional sustainable development, leveraging platforms like SRCIC to facilitate cultural and commercial exchanges. Through principles of peace, cooperation, and inclusivity, the Alliance fosters partnerships that drive economic progress while empowering businesses to adapt to evolving trade landscapes.
