Kwame Opoku’s late strike moves Kotoko a step closer to FA Cup glory

There’s no stopping him now, and maybe till the season concludes.

Every passing performance from Kwame Opoku will make the administrators of Kotoko beam with smiles.

Once again, Opoku was the X factor in Kotoko’s MTN FA Cup tie against True Democracy.

With the game locked in at 1-1 and the dreaded penalty shootout staring at both sides, Opoku came up clutch, drilling home his effort from the edge of the box.

Saaka Dauda had handed Kotoko an advantage in the first half with a well-timed finish before Isaac Botchway levelled proceedings after 62 minutes for True Democracy.

Despite the best efforts of both teams to outwit each another, their attempts fell through until injury time.

A ping-pong in True Democracy’s box saw the ball break the way of Kotoko forward Kwame Poku on the edge of the dee.

Opoku rode two tackles before putting his foot through the ball to find the bottom corner.

The goal threw the few Kotoko fans that had come to see their team play into raptures.

Opoku has now scored seven times in all competitions for Kotoko since rejoining the Porcupine Warriors in December 2024.

Asante Kotoko join Berekum Chelsea, Attram De Visser and Golden Kick FC in the semi finals of the competition.
