Ahead of the 9-day Black Queens training tour in Senegal, Coach Kim Lars Bjorkrgren has called 21 players to begin camping in Senegal. The training tour forms part of the GFA stepping up preparations for the 15th edition of the African Women’s Cup of Nations.
The training tour is scheduled to take place from April 1 to April 9, 2025. The 2016 bronze medalist will compete in two international friendlies against Senegal. The first game will be place on 5th April while the second game takes place on 8th April against the Teranga Lioness of Senegal in Dakar.
The technical team made some changes from the squad who engaged in the international friendly against Morocco. Hasaacas’ Ladies goalkeeper Grace Banwa, Police Ladies’ Philicity Asuako, Ernestina Abambila of Eto Gyors and Patience Peterson Kundok have been added while Safiatu Salifu, Comfort Yeboah, Grace Asantewaa, Stella Nyamekye, Alice Kusi and Adama Alhassan are missing from the squad.
The Black Queens are making a return to the women’s AFCON after missing out of 2022 edition. The senior national women’s team are in Group C alongside South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.
