Gospel musicians Great Ampong and Nicholas Omane Acheampong have expressed confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances of reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections.

The two musicians, who have long been sympathizers of the NPP, met with the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, in Parliament on Friday, April 4, to encourage him and the party leadership.

Speaking at the meeting, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, popularly known as Great Ampong, compared the party’s current situation to a biblical story of David and Saul, emphasizing that although the NPP lost the 2024 elections, all hope is not lost.

“I watched a movie sometime back about David and Saul. After Saul had died, a certain man came to David and said, ‘Israel has been defeated by the Philistines, and the Ark of the Covenant has been taken away, but the Lord has never forsaken His people,’” he said.

“This encouraged me, so what I will tell you is that we may have lost the elections, but God has not forgotten the NPP. In sha Allah, 2028, the Lord will speak,” he added.

Gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong also lamented the financial struggles Ghanaians are facing under the new NDC government, claiming that just months after the NPP left power, parents had begun seeking financial assistance for their children’s education.

“Under the NPP government, no parent came to me for school fees, but just three months after the NDC returned, people have started coming to me even for BECE registration fees,” he revealed.

He urged NPP members to remain steadfast, emphasizing that unity within the party would be crucial for a strong comeback.

“NPP members should be united and not lose hope. We will bounce back stronger,” he assured.
