Al Nassr skipper Cristiano Ronaldo says he’s not so fixated on scoring 1,000 career goals despite moving close to the feat with a brace against Al Hilal on Friday night in the Saudi Pro League.
Cristiano’s double against local rivals Al Hilal moved him up to 931 career goals, 69 shy of the 1000 mark.
Contrary to widespread reports of Ronaldo eyeing 1000 goals before he retires, the Portuguese said:
“Guys, let’s enjoy the moment. I’m not chasing 1,000. If it happens, perfect. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. The moment is the most special thing not what is going to come you know. Enjoy the moment and it was a great win not because I scored of course.”
“I’m happy to score two goals against Al-Hilal but the most important thing is to win the derby. We play against a fantastic team away, it’s always difficult, we have to appreciate and we have to continue because nine games left with one more in the Champions League. Everything is possible, we have to continue and believe,” he added.
Ronaldo’s brace took him up to 21 league goals for the season, moving him four clear at the top of the scorers charts.
Additionally, his double was also his 15th goal in 2025, 94th goal for Al Nassr, 30th goal in all club competitions, 568th all-time league goal, and 795th all-time club goal.
Al Nassr are now three points off second-placed Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League after picking up their first win against their rivals across all competitions since 2023.
