A fire broke out at the Talensi constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region in the early hours of Saturday, April 5, 2025, causing substantial damage to the building.

The fire, which started at approximately 2:30 A.M., consumed large portions of the office, including the main reception area.

Several important party documents, files, plastic chairs, and other materials were destroyed in the blaze, though some equipment, including desktop computers from other rooms, were salvaged by firefighters.

While the full extent of the damage is still being evaluated, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

“We do not know what caused the fire. We are aware that there is speculation, but we will allow the appropriate authorities to conduct their investigation and determine the cause,” said Michael Nangena, the NDC constituency communication officer, in an interview with Asaase News.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service responded quickly to the scene, successfully containing the blaze and securing the area. An investigation will be launched to uncover the origin of the fire.
