A bad weekend for the top two sides in the Ghana Premier League.
League leaders Kotoko picked up a point while closest challengers GoldStars lost to Dreams FC.

• Kotoko pulling away from GoldStars
In the run-in, little details matter. Every point gained or lost will be felt in the grand scheme of things in June.
Kotoko are slowly pulling away from GoldStars.
GoldStars lost 2-0 to Dreams FC, while Kotoko earned a hard-fought draw at Kpando, albeit taking the lead and allowing Heart of Lions to come back into the game.
The point difference has been increased to two now, with nine games to end the season.
Kotoko will be banking their hopes on Premier League experience to carry them over the line, whereas GoldStars will hope their first-time desire to win the league will get enough motivation.
• Hearts of Oak secure odd win in five
Raphael Amponsah scored a belter to give Hearts of Oak a 1-0 win over Medeama, ending a run of four games without a win.
Fans of the team are slowly losing belief the team can challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.
Hearts of Oak now sit six points behind league leaders Kotoko.
Although nine games remain, Aboubakar Ouattara’s side have fallen flat.
Hearts of Oak have not been helped by their manager’s consistent spats with journalists.
But on field, Hearts’ defence remain among the best in the top four.
Their 14 goals conceded is the least among all teams in the top four.
The major problem from Hearts has been finishing off their chances.
• Dreams FC’s renaissance moves them out of danger
In the last 10 games, no team has picked up more points than Dreams FC.
They were initially in the red zone 10 weeks ago after a difficult start to the season.
But after having to struggle and clinging on for dear life, Dreams FC have moved up into 8th, with 36 points.
More impressively, Dreams FC have picked up 15 points out of an available 15. A huge progress from the start of the season.
For context, Dreams have lost once all year – a 3-0 defeat to Legon Cities.
In their last five games, they’ve conceded just a goal and scored seven times.
They are the most in-form team in the league, playing with the verve that got them into the last four of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
• Safety first, teams strive for survival
Nsoatreman have been relegated after withdrawing from the league.
Two more spots need to be filled. Legon Cities, 17th, and Accra Lions, 16th, are currently occupying the final slots.
Karela are two points above the drop zone while Vision FC are five points ahead of Accra Lions.
Basake Holy Stars, 12th, are seven points ahead of 16th placed Accra Lions, which means no team is safe yet.
• Attendance still concerning
Densley filled stadiums, not enough spectators.
Since the league resumed after the unfortunate happening at Nsoatreman, attendance has been an eyesore.
Even the biggest teams, Kotoko and Hearts, fail to fill stadiums, especially in home games.
It will be difficult to see how this will change in the coming weeks. Even the initiative of the Ghana Football Association, Happy hour, has done and can do little to change that.
The brand of football and style does not appeal to Ghanaians, ostensibly.
