Joyce Bawah should better have her defamation suit heard on social media — Abronye DC

The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has responded to the legal threats from Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a Senior Presidential Advisor.

Mrs. Bawah Mogtari is demanding GH¢10 million in damages from Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, over what she describes as a defamatory statement made on national television.

In a letter from her lawyers, R.O. Solomon Consulting, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP is accused of making false and malicious claims about her on Net 2 TV during a live programme on March 26.

According to the notice, Abronye claimed that Mrs. Bawah Mogtari receives GH¢95,000 as a monthly salary as compensation for being left out of a ministerial appointment.

The legal team is demanding an unqualified apology, a full retraction of the claims, and the GH¢10 million compensation, failing which they say they will initiate legal action.

However, speaking in an interview on Wontumi FM, the vociferous politician said the lawsuit will just be heard on social media because it will be unsuccessful when they meet physically.

According to him, the President’s Special Advisor should have just compensated herself with a fraction of what he claims to be cocaine money brought into the country by the NDC government.

“Joyce Bawah Mogtari better have her defamation suit heard on social media because it won’t yield any results when we meet physically. She is asking for 10 million cedis.

“She should compensate herself with a fraction of the cocaine money her government has brought to Ghana. I will use that to compensate her. The 10 million cedis is even small. She should have made it 100 million cedis.”

He repeated the allegations: “What job at all is she doing at the Jubilee House that requires her to be paid 95,000 cedis? She now buys and changes expensive bags for different programmes. None of them costs less than $2,500. In the courtroom, I will ask her to provide receipts for every bag she owns.”
