Eric Gyamfi Odoom, the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Nominee
Eric Gyamfi Odoom, the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee, has expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing him to the highest office in the Municipality.
He stated that the opportunity to serve in President Mahama’s government as MCE is a steppingstone for him to contribute to the reset agenda of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), aimed at vigorously pursuing infrastructural and human development.
In a media interview at Agona Swedru following the announcement of his nomination, Odoom, who also serves as the Agona West Constituency Secretary of the NDC, said the nomination would serve as a strong motivation for all party executives.
The nominee also extended his gratitude to Mrs. Ernestina Ofori Dangbey, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, for her unwavering support during the selection process. He pledged to work diligently to ensure the party retains the seat in 2028.
Odoom revealed that the vision for his political career became clear when he began working for the NDC in 2007. He emphasized that years of dedication and hard work had culminated in his nomination as MCE.
He expressed appreciation to the constituency executives, ward coordinators, branch executives, and his church members for their unwavering support. He noted that although the journey was challenging, their prayers helped him to succeed.
Odoom also acknowledged the support and counsel of traditional leaders, including the Omanhene of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, and Nana Kweku Esieni V, the Regent of Agona Swedru, along with all the chiefs of the Traditional Council. He said their advice had contributed positively to his journey.
On youth development, the nominee affirmed his commitment to implementing President Mahama’s reset agenda to create an enabling environment for the youth to acquire entrepreneurial skills for job creation and improved livelihoods.
He urged the youth to stay away from immorality and drug abuse and instead pursue education with determination to secure a better future.
Odoom, who is the headteacher of Swedru A.M.E. Zion (E) Basic School, pledged to collaborate with chiefs, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to combat the growing issue of child delinquency in the Agona West Municipality.
Regarding the confirmation of his nomination, Odoom expressed optimism, citing his good relationship with Assembly Members. He noted that these Members, as agents of change and development, would rally behind him to help make the Municipality a better place.
He called on the Assembly Members to work as a team to increase revenue generation—particularly through improved collection of property rates and other untapped sources—to fund development projects. Among his priorities is the reshaping of feeder roads to assist farmers and market women in transporting their produce to market centers.
