Charles Owusu, a former independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza in the 2024 elections, has slammed the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, for failing to present evidence to substantiate his claims of alleged drug trafficking.

According to Charles Owusu, the lawmaker has chosen to focus on media tours to discuss his allegations, rather than making any genuine effort to provide the evidence he claims to possess.

He stated that the lawmaker should have been able to easily provide evidence to support his claims if, in fact, he had the necessary proof.

“As a civilian that I am, if I hear something like this, do you think I can publicly come on radio to make such allegations of cocaine trafficking without any evidence? If the security agencies extend an invite to you, then you should be able to provide evidence to prove your claims but it’s as if my brother’s media engagements have become more than the evidence he claims to have,” he said on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show.

He continued; “He keeps repeating and making same allegations on different media stations without any evidence. If indeed he had evidence, he would have taken it to the appropriate state agencies to investigate to bring the issue to an end instead of this needless back and forth.”

Charles Owusu observed that had this controversy arisen under the previous NPP government, the NDC would not have resorted to publicly making allegations in a press conference.

Instead, he noted, they would have presented evidence through the proper channels.

“I don’t think the NDC would have raised such allegations by organising a press conference if these suspicious flights’ issue had happened under the former President Akufo-Addo’s government. All what is happening is as a result of politics,” he argued, hence condemning the lawmaker for his actions.
