The Minister for Communication, Digitalization and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reiterated his commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment while ensuring consumer benefits, particularly by emphasizing his dedication to reducing data prices for Ghanaian consumers.

He made this statement when a delegation led by Afriwave Telecom CEO, Mr Francis Poku visited him last Friday in Accra to discuss critical issues and areas for partnership.

The discussions focused on several crucial industry matters including tariff review, license renewal processes and other financial considerations affecting the telecommunications sector. The meeting reflects ongoing dialogue between the government and key players in Ghana’s telecommunications industry as the sector continues to evolve in response to digital transformation priorities.

The Afriwave team commended the Minister for his proactive approach since assuming office and pledged their support for his initiatives.

Afriwave Telecom was established in 1998 to provide services to meet the rising demand of telecommunications as the industry began to boom and received the authorization as Ghana’s first Interconnect Clearing House licensee in February 2015 from the National Communications Authority.

As a licensee, Afriwave has the mandate to provide a common, independent mechanism for monitoring, routing, billing and settlement of local and international interconnect traffic for all existing and future telecommunications operators in the country.

Afriwave Telecom is in the league of local leaders providing telecom solutions and has a track record of utilizing competent skills and expertise to provide a complete range of professional and end-to-end telecommunication services in the country.
