Bawumia not desperate to be president, he’s simply the best for the job — Kofi Bentil

Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has reiterated his confidence in former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the best person to lead Ghana.

According to the policy advisor and social commentator, Dr. Bawumia, who was the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2024 elections, demonstrated through his concession speech that he is not desperate for power but remains the most qualified for the job.

“I still believe in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He has proven that my trust in him was not misplaced.

“Some of you discovered what I already knew when you heard his concession speech. He is not desperate to be President. He is simply the best for the job!!” Bentil wrote in a social media post on April 20.

Mr. Bentil, who was vocal during the 2024 campaign period, consistently urged voters to support Dr. Bawumia, arguing that former President John Mahama had already been tested and failed to deliver.

In the same post, the IMANI Vice President dismissed claims that he was paid to endorse the NPP and its candidate.

“I have seen some nonsense floating in the ether. Today is Easter so I will be moderate.

“I can 100% confirm that those lies are fake!! No one offered or paid me to say anything anywhere. I make up my own mind and own my mouth!!! I am responsible for what I say. I never asked for nor was given money for my statements. Period,” he said.

Mr. Bentil further warned of legal action against individuals spreading such allegations.

“As for those who insist on telling tales, I just want them to know that I have time for yawa… I don’t have any better work to do apart from sit in court, so we can arrange and meet there soon,” he cautioned.
