The Society for Human Resource Management is positioned to inspire and elevate Human Resources on the African continent.

In collaboration with the Global Conference on Human Resources in Africa, the Society will hold the second edition of the HR Conference from August 13-16th, 2025.

The Conference is aimed at empowering and inspiring Africa’s HR professionals and workforce to drive success, foster inclusivity, and transform workplaces across the continent.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of SHRM, Johnny C. Taylor Jr., said the conference was imperative in equipping human resource professionals with the requisite skill set, as Africa is fast becoming the next global economic frontier.

“Human beings are the most important asset of every economy. With Africa poised to become the most populated continent on the planet, investing in HR development is more critical than ever”, he said in a LinkedIn post.

Why Africa, Why Now?

He said that Africa is rapidly emerging as the next global economic frontier, powered by its youthful and dynamic workforce, with the continent’s population expected to double to 2.5 billion by 2050.

He asserted that this demographic shift positions Africa as a significant player in the global labor market, particularly in sectors requiring skilled labor, such as manufacturing, digital technology, and green energy.

Mr Taylor Junior further indicated that with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) projection, Africa is identified to race behind Asia as the second fastest growing continent.

“Moreover, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is projected to encompass 1.7 billion people and generate $6.7 trillion in consumer and business spending by 2030.

With a GDP growth forecast of 4.3% in 2024, the continent is set to be the second-fastest-growing region in the world after Asia.

“This burgeoning workforce and economic potential make the continent a vital region to watch in the coming decades”, he said.

The second Global Conference on Human Resources is themed, “Leveraging Technology to Enhance Workforce Productivity and Optimize Efficiency.”

This highlights the intersection of technology and HR practices, offering a deep dive into strategies for maximizing productivity and shaping the future of work across Africa and beyond.

The Society for Human Resource Management extended an invitation to all forward-thinking HR professionals, business leaders, and technology innovators to join the conference join us on August 13th – 16th, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana.
