Miracles Aboagye, a close aide to the 2024 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has described the former Vice President as the most experienced and actively engaged politician within the party.

Speaking on the JoyNews on Tuesday, April 15, Mr Aboagye firmly asserted Dr Bawumia’s political dominance, citing his lengthy and consistent involvement in national politics.

“In our party today, the most experienced politician, active politician in our party today is Dr Bawumia, no doubt about that,” he stated.

He emphasized that Dr Bawumia’s political career spans at least 16 years, having served as Vice President for eight years and as a running mate for another eight years prior to that.

“He is the one who has been at the forefront of this country’s politics more than any other person. He’s been Vice President for eight years, he’s been a running mate for another eight years. That alone is sixteen years,” Mr Aboagye highlighted.

Mr Aboagye maintained that unity within the party, under Dr Bawumia’s leadership, would be key to winning back power in future elections.

“Our only fast route to power will be to stay united, neatly and closely together, work together behind a leader that has articulated clear-cut alternative policies to issues that matter most to the people of this country, and that person is Dr Bawumia,” he said.

He further argued that Dr Bawumia not only brings experience but also clarity of vision and a well-articulated policy direction that aligns with the needs of Ghanaians.

“There is no doubt about it, data supports it, our political history even supports that,” Mr Aboagye added.

His comments come amid ongoing debates within the NPP regarding the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
