Celebrating culture, building unity: The Global Media Alliance experience

It is not every day you see members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) adorned in traditional attire that celebrates the beauty and richness of Ga culture.

It is also uncommon to witness SMT members spearheading the preparation of a delectable groundnut soup, a perfect complement to kokonte.

But such was the vibrant atmosphere at Global Media Alliance’s Ghana Month celebration in March 2025.

Following a well-curated plan to honour our motherland’s rich and diverse heritage, the leading integrated marketing communications company hosted an elegant yet simple event to showcase the food, music, fashion, and traditions that make Ghana unique.

From energetic cultural dance performances and soothing melodies from authentic Ghanaian musicians to the irresistible aroma of local dishes, every element of the celebration reflected a deep appreciation for our Ghanaian culture.

Everyone was treated to a rich variety of Ghanaian dishes, including Abomu, Banku with Okro Soup, Yam with Kontomire, Etor, Kokonte with Groundnut Soup, and Angwa Mo, among others.

In this spirited atmosphere, there were no silos—no distinction between the digital team producing high-end videos and artworks for social media, the PR team fine-tuning press releases to meet client expectations, the event team rushing off for a recce at a client venue, the Accounts team ensuring budgets and logistics were in check, the Business Development team contributing ideas to boost visibility and engagement, or the IT team supporting all technical needs behind the scenes.

The dedication and energy poured into the Ghana Month celebration was simply unmatched.

Remarkably, it was when the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Ernest Boateng, stepped out of the boardroom.

Rather than signing off documents behind a desk, he was on the ground with his team, checking on food preparation, admiring the vibrant dance performances, and enthusiastically sharing the history behind various Ghanaian cultures with the young, dynamic staff around him.

Moved by the collective effort, Emma Wenani, Chief Director of Global Media Alliance, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the team, commending their commitment to excellence and teamwork in putting together an event that celebrated Ghana and strengthened unity across all departments.

“What we achieved wasn’t just a celebration of Ghana’s rich culture—it was a celebration of our unity as a team. Seeing every department come together with such passion and purpose reminded me of the power of collaboration and the pride we all share in our identity,” Emma added.

The GMA Ghana Month celebration has been a long-standing celebration hosted by the Global Media Alliance team each March, aimed at honouring Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while fostering team spirit and collaboration within the organisation.
