Charity Ghardinar, the Ahafo Regional Minister, has reminded Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to give meaning to the trust reposed in them by the President by spearheading good governance and improved development in their respective assemblies.

According to her, the MMDCEs are the ambassadors of the programmes and policies of the President at the local level and that their successes or flaws affect the government and the political party generally.

In a ceremony to swear in confirmed MMDCEs on Thursday in Goaso, Charity Ghardinar entreated appointees to stick to the development agenda of President John Mahama to improve the living conditions of residents.

All six (6) nominees of the President were sworn in as Municipal and District Chief Executives following an overwhelming endorsement they received from their respective local assemblies.

They are Dauda Hafiz Dabell, District Chief Executive of Asutifi North, Benjamin Donkor Assabil, District Chief Executive of Asutifi South, and Sampson Pius Opoku, Municipal Chief Executive of Tano North.

Others are Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, Municipal Chief Executive of Tano South, Joseph Yinka, District Chief Executive of Asunafo South and Benjamin Akparibo, Municipal Chief Executive of Asunafo North.

President John Mahama, in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) as amended by the Local Governance Act, 2017, nominated them for their roles as MMDCEs.

In a letter dated March 23, 2025, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Armed Ibrahim, on behalf of the President, entreated all MMDCE nominees to deliver their mandate with humility, respect and commitment.

The Regional Minister expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities in the Ahafo area for their support and asked for their direction, saying “I and my six gallant men are available for engagement and collaboration”.

Dauda Hafiz Dabell, the DCE for Asutifi North, reaffirmed his commitment to improve key sectors in his area, namely economic empowerment, fixing of community internal roads, health, water and sanitation and rural communities development.

The DCE for Asutifi South, Benjamin Donkor Assabil, also enjoined his colleague appointees in the current administration to prioritise the well-being of NDC grassroots members for peace to prevail in the party.
