Ghanaians are already feeling NPP’s absence — NAPO

The 2024 running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known affectionately as NAPO, has commented on the tremendous impact of the party’s governance on Ghana.

NAPO claimed that citizens have started feeling the absence of the NPP just four months after handing over power to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on January 7, 2025.

In a social media post on Saturday, April 26, detailing his meeting with the party’s Bono East Regional Chairman on Thursday, he intimated that the only thing that can stop the NPP’s victory in 2028 is internal wrangling.

“During our discussions, I reminded them that the strength of a united party is essential for victory in 2028.

“I pointed out that the absence of the NPP has already been felt by the people of Ghana, and the only obstacle to our success would be internal division. A fragmented party, no matter how strong its flagbearer, stands no chance of winning elections,” he wrote.

The former Manhyia South Member of Parliament and Energy Minister reiterated his call for the party to stay united to wrestle power from the ruling NDC in the 2028 elections.

“I emphasized the critical role these leaders [regional and constituency executives] play in fostering unity within our ranks. They must stand firm against any forces that aim to divide us. United, we stand tall; divided, we fall!

“I reaffirmed my commitment to a united NPP and to the hard work ahead as we strive to reclaim power in 2028,” he said.

The meeting with the NPP Regional Chairman for Bono East and his constituency chairmen in Wenchi, according to NAPO, was an opportunity to express his deepest sense of gratitude for their unflinching support and leadership, even in the face of the party’s recent loss.
