W/R: Three Arrested Over Armed Gold Robbery at Wassa Afransie

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three men believed to be behind a violent gold robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.

The suspects — Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei; Nigerian national Emmanuel Kelvin; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse — are accused of stealing gold valued at GH₵199,000 along with other personal items from workers of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited.

Police investigations revealed that on April 4, 2025, Kofi Appiah, a driver with the gold company, and his colleague Emmanuel Adu were attacked by armed men while returning from Wassa Ayiem after picking up gold from a client. During the ambush, shots were fired, and the robbers escaped with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla. The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned.

Authorities apprehended Appiah on April 21 at his residence in Wassa Akropong. Swift follow-up operations led to the capture of Emmanuel Kelvin and Felix Adjei at separate locations.

A search of the suspects’ premises uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including a Jojeff pump-action gun with butt number 168316, a Calymm PDS pistol with no serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 rounds, a locally manufactured pistol, and GH₵65,000 believed to be part of the stolen proceeds.

The three suspects remain in police custody, assisting investigators. They are expected to face formal charges in court soon as the investigation continues.
