Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has reacted to a reported resolution by the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) urging President John Dramani Mahama to reverse the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
The policy advisor took a swipe at the GBA, noting that the association has not been a serious and credible voice during the past eight years of the NPP government.
In a social media post on Monday, April 28, the good governance advocate cited the silence of the GBA on the exclusion of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) from the 2020 parliamentary elections.
“The GBA has not been a serious and credible voice these past eight years. I heard no word on the SALL debacle from them. Ignore them!!” he wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has also taken a swipe at the Ghana Bar Association.
In a social media post on Monday, April 28, Dr. Apaak described the association as a seasonal one that only finds its voice when the NDC is in power.
He stressed that President Mahama, who he said is acting based on constitutional provisions regarding the petitions, will not be distracted by the GBA.
“President John Dramani Mahama will not be distracted by a Seasonal Association, which only finds its voice when the NDC is in power. If the GBA believes he has broken any laws, the courts are there,” he wrote.
