The weekend’s matches saw Ghanaian players oversea take center stage, with several stars delivering impressive performances.

From Antoine Semenyo’s sublime finish to Mohammed Kudus ending goal-scoring drought, the Ghanaian players abroad are making waves in their respective leagues.

Mohammed Kudus, West Ham

Mohammed Kudus scored his first Premier League goal of 2025 to equalize for West Ham against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Incidentally, his last league goal, was against Brighton in December 2024 at the London Stadium.

Kudus’s smart finish from Jarrod Bowen’s cutback leveled the score just after halftime, following Yasin Ayari’s early 30-yard strike for Brighton.

Kudus, who now has four Premier League goals this season, played the full match and reached 20 direct goal contributions in his Premier League career.

Antoine Semenyo, AFC Bournemouth

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has surpassed Chelsea legend Michael Essien to become the fifth-highest goal scorer in English Premier League history for Ghanaian players.

Semenyo achieved this feat after scoring for AFC Bournemouth in their match against Manchester United on Sunday, where he put on an impressive display.

The striker opened the scoring for Cherries in the 23rd minute, courtesy of a pass from Evanilson.

Semenyo’s goal against Manchester United means the forward now has nine Premier League goals this season, his highest ever tally in the competition.

The former Bristol City forward now sends his tally in the Premier League history to 18.

The 25-year-old’s 18 goals in the competition move him above Chelsea Legend Michael Essien (17) and puts him in 5th place for most Premier League goals by a Ghanaian international.

Bismark Charles, Skenderbeu

Ghanaian international Bismark Charles scored for Skenderbeu in their 2-1 loss to Bylis in Round 36 of the Abissnet Superiore, bringing his league tally to eight goals this season. The 23-year-old striker is now the second-highest African goal scorer in the league, trailing Nigeria’s Peter Itodo by four goals.

Charles’ goal-scoring form will be crucial in the remaining matches as Skenderbeu battles to avoid relegation.
The team currently sits second from the bottom, six points adrift of the relegation zone.
Skenderbeu’s fate hangs in the balance, and Charles’ scoring prowess will be vital in determining their league standing.

Ivan Mensah, Banska Bystrica

Ivan Mensah, a Ghanaian defender, netted his first goal of the season for Banska Bystrica in the Slovenia Nike Liga.
Mensah’s strike proved vital as he scored the second goal for the visiting team in their 2-2 draw against Trencin.
The Slovenian side will likely rely on Mensah’s versatility, both in attack and defense, as they strive to avoid relegation.

Mensah’s goal highlights his attacking capabilities, and his defensive skills will be essential in Banska Bystrica’s bid for survival.

Jeffrey Schlupp, Celtic

Ghana midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has won his first title with Scottish giants Celtic after starring in their Premier League triumph.

Schlupp climbed off the bench to help Celtic thump Dundee United 5-0 and be crowned champions of Scotland last Saturday.

The 32-year-old, who is currently on loan from English Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, has been a key figure for Brendan Rogers’ team, making ten league appearances for the Hoops.

The former Leicester City player has made 14 appearances across all competitions for the club and could extend his stay at Celtic for another campaign.
