Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has officially stepped down from his role as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
The decision follows his recent elevation to 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
With increased responsibilities at the continental level and his continued leadership of the GFA, Okraku made the strategic choice to relinquish his WAFU role to ensure each position receives the necessary focus.
Okraku cited his desire to concentrate fully on his CAF duties while expressing confidence that capable leaders within WAFU Zone B can take over and continue advancing the bloc’s development.
During his tenure, Okraku was instrumental in launching several initiatives, including the introduction of youth tournaments across the sub-region. Reflecting on his time with WAFU, he thanked the team for their unwavering support and pledged to remain committed to the growth of West African football through his new role at CAF.
His departure opens the door for new leadership to build on the strong foundations he helped lay during his time at the helm.
