The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with illegal mining operations (galamsey) at Bepoakyi, near Dompim in the Western Region.

The arrest was made on April 23, 2025, and was part of the ongoing anti-galamsey operations.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Desmond Boampong, the Western Central Regional Police Commander, said this when he addressed journalists at a press conference in Tarkwa.

The suspects are Justice Tetteh, Michael Anche, Bismark Gyimah, Ramzy Amoah, Michael Attivor, and Emmanuel Andoh.

DCOP Boampong stated that the police retrieved five excavators from the suspects, and they are in police custody at Dompim, awaiting evacuation to the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.

He said the six suspects were currently in police custody assisting in the investigations and assured the public that their crackdown on illegal mining would continue unabated to preserve their natural resources.
