Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), is set to end his tenure at the facility next week.

His departure follows a cordial meeting with the Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, during which the government extended its appreciation for his remarkable service.

The Minister praised Prof. Addai-Mensah for his unwavering dedication and transformative leadership, which helped modernize KATH and improve healthcare delivery. He also expressed personal gratitude for the care he received at the hospital following a serious accident in 2024, acknowledging the CEO’s exceptional stewardship during that period.

A successor is expected to be announced soon and take over next week.

Prof. Addai-Mensah, who was appointed in November 2022, exits the role with two years remaining on his contract. His tenure is widely hailed as a turning point for KATH, particularly for spearheading the Hekap Project—a major renovation and infrastructure overhaul of the hospital.

He introduced wide-ranging reforms, including staff and management orientation programmes, and significantly increased the hospital’s dialysis capacity from just two machines in 2022 to about 20.

His leadership also oversaw several retooling efforts and the construction of a cutting-edge pharmaceutical block.

Prof. Addai-Mensah leaves behind a legacy defined by innovation, infrastructure development, and a strong emphasis on quality patient care, earning him recognition as one of the most impactful leaders in Ghana’s healthcare sector.
