Ghana international Inaki Williams will miss Athletic Bilbao’s crucial UEFA Europa League semifinal match against Manchester United at Old Trafford due to a muscle injury.

The Spanish club heads to Manchester without their star striker, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue.

Williams’ absence will undoubtedly impact Athletic Bilbao’s chances as they attempt to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the return fixture to reach the final.

The LaLiga club announced on Wednesday that the Ghana international will miss the match due to a muscle injury.

“Player Iñaki Williams has not been called up for the Europa League semi-final second leg match due to a muscle injury in the common tendon of the right hamstring,” the club said, adding, “His recovery will be monitored.”

The timeline for Williams’ return remains uncertain, with the club adding, “It remains to be seen whether it will evolve.

The Black Stars attacker was forced off with an injury in Athletic Bilbao’s goalless draw with bitter rivals Real Sociedad last Sunday in the Basque Derby, and was substituted in the 62nd minute.

This season, Williams has been a vital player for Athletic Bilbao, making 48 appearances, scoring 11 goals, and providing 9 assists across competitions. He hopes to recover in time to finish the campaign.
