The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has praised the people of the North East Region for their unwavering support in the 2024 general elections, describing the region as a rare bright spot in an otherwise challenging political season for the party.
Despite losing over two million votes nationwide—largely attributed to voter apathy among its traditional support base—the NPP saw an increase in votes in the North East Region, the home region of its 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“This is the only region that appreciated in votes in a very difficult election for our party, and on my own behalf and on behalf of our party, I want to express my profound gratitude for your massive support,” Dr. Bawumia said during a Thank You Tour of the region on Tuesday.
He added, “Just as I have expressed our gratitude to all our stakeholders in all the regions across the country, I want to also express same to all of you in the region for your support.”
Representing the National Chairman, the party’s National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Massaudu, expressed similar sentiments and lauded the region’s commitment.
“On behalf of the National Chairman and our party, I want to thank you for the way you supported and voted for us in the 2024 election,” he said. “We really appreciate your support and we want to urge you to continue to stay behind us for victory in the next election.”
The Deputy General Secretary of the party also underscored the importance of the region’s performance, noting that it helped maintain a sense of momentum for the NPP even amid national disappointment.
Encouraging supporters to remain focused and resilient, Dr. Bawumia urged unity and hard work as the party begins regrouping ahead of the next electoral contest.
“God’s time is always the best so let us all join hands together so that we continue to work hard and make the NPP stronger and better for victory in 2028,” he said.
The Thank You Tour, led by Dr. Bawumia and other top officials, is aimed at acknowledging the loyalty and contributions of party faithful across the country, regardless of the electoral results.
