Discontent is brewing in Bole, the hometown of President John Mahama, as a group of angry youth took to the streets to protest the nomination of Abdulai Mahamud as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.

The demonstrators, chanting slogans and burning lorry tyres, say they are opposed to President Mahama’s nominee, citing a lack of consultation and dissatisfaction with previous leadership. This marks the second time residents have publicly expressed their disapproval of Mahamud’s nomination.

TV3’s correspondent, Christopher Amoako, reports that the protests have created significant tension in the community, prompting authorities to indefinitely postpone the confirmation ceremony, which was initially scheduled for Wednesday, May 7.

Local government officials say the delay is to allow for further dialogue and engagement with the aggrieved youth.

Community leaders and security personnel are reportedly working to calm tensions and restore order.
