Respect earlier agreement or refund cost for purchasing foodstuffs – School Feeding Caterers to gov’t

A group calling itself the Progressive School Feeding Caterers Association has called on the government to either honour their earlier agreement to continue their contracts until the end of the 2024/2025 academic year or refund their monies used to purchase foodstuffs for the third term.

At a press conference, the association’s President, Gifty Asamoah, stated that members had procured foodstuffs based on the government’s earlier agreement.

“We are not asking for contract renewal, but rather permission to cook the food until the end of the academic year to access our arrears,” she explained.

The caterers claim that terminating their contract without honoring the agreement would cause financial hardship, as many have secured loans to purchase foodstuffs.

Some caterers noted that during the previous administration, contracts were honoured until completion.

“Let’s complete the third term and then hand over to our colleagues,” they pleaded, highlighting that students are currently not eating due to the impasse.
