Nikyema Billa Alamzy believes Alexander Afenyo-Markin is becoming a content creator Nikyema Billa Alamzy believes Alexander Afenyo-Markin is becoming a content creator

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Chianna-Paga, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has taken a swipe at the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, and his party, the New Patriotic Party, over their commentaries on the performance of Ghana’s economy.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV on May 12, 2025, Billa Alamzy said that Afenyo-Markin and the NPP cannot accept the fact that John Dramani Mahama is making some gains in his efforts to rebound the country’s economy because they are pained by their electoral defeat.

“They are still having a problem with the way they lost the 2024 Election. So, because of that, they find it difficult to understand anything that comes on board from NDC. They are telling us that it is not because of NDC or it is not because of the performance of the finance minister that is why the cedi is appreciating against the dollar.

“Is there any logic in this? Then we will attribute it to who? That is my question,” the Chianna-Paga MP quizzed.

He also refuted the assertion that the cedi was performing well against the dollar because of global factors.

He pointed out that if that were the case, Ghana’s neighbouring countries would have also been seeing appreciation in their currencies, which is not the case.

“We have our neighbours around us. And I can tell you that in Burkina Faso today, the CFA is not appreciating against the dollar. Honourable Afenyo-Markin… is supposed to reorganise his party very well for them. He’s a good politician though, but for me, of late (within the past three months) he’s becoming a content creator.

“Anything that comes up, then he goes optically to say things that are not in order. I can tell you that for now, we are managing the country very well, we are managing the cedi very well, and they cannot attribute it to any other person than the government — and that is NDC being led by the able finance minister,” he added.
