The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Ho East Presbytery, has presented a Citation of Honour to Hon. James Gunu, the newly appointed Volta Regional Minister.
The recognition celebrates his distinguished leadership, unwavering commitment, and outstanding contributions to the Church and the broader development of the Volta Region.
The citation, signed by Rev. CSP George Akuamoah Boateng (Rtd.), Synod Moderator of the Ho East Presbytery, highlighted Hon. Gunu’s impactful public service. It noted his remarkable tenure as District Chief Executive for Akatsi North from 2013 to 2017, during which he laid a solid foundation for the district’s growth. It also acknowledged his role as Regional Secretary of his political party from 2018 to 2025, a period marked by strengthened regional unity and development.
The Church particularly praised Hon. Gunu’s steadfast support for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, especially in the Ave Pastoral District, where he played a key role in establishing E.P. Schools. His dedication to public service and advocacy for community well-being have earned him a reputation as a transformative leader and a beacon of hope.
The Ho East Presbytery expressed deep appreciation for Hon. Gunu’s generosity and continued assistance to the Church. The Citation of Honour is a reflection of his exemplary service and commitment to the progress of the Volta Region.
As he assumes office as Volta Regional Minister, the Church offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine favour in his leadership journey.
“May his tenure be marked by impactful achievements, empowered communities, and the realization of the hopes and aspirations of the people,” the citation read.
The award was formally presented on Sunday, May 11, 2025, during a thanksgiving service to mark the 15th Synod of the Ho East Presbytery, held at Abutia Teti in the Ho West District.
Hon. Francis Dussey, District Chief Executive for Ho West, received the honour on behalf of the Minister and conveyed Mr. Gunu’s gratitude to the Church. Speaking through the DCE, the Regional Minister also encouraged the Abutia community to take pride in preserving and protecting the Kalakpa Forest Reserve—the largest forest reserve in the district.
During the same ceremony, the Church also honoured Presbyter Pearl Klutse, a devoted member of the Amenuveve Congregation. According to Church leaders, the congregation was founded in Madam Klutse’s private residence on March 6, 2016. For nine years, she generously opened her home for worship, prayer, and fellowship without requesting compensation. Her support extended beyond providing space, as she consistently contributed both financially and morally to the congregation’s mission.
